A Flight of Fancy
One day, stunt scientist Dave Warner and crew got it in
their heads to try to give their "partner in crime", Ashley Hughes,
the experience of flying a helicopter. Can't use a real one, they
said, so let's find a model. They found one, and these pictures tell
most of the story. Ashley first had the pleasure of simply sitting
back and viewing the experience through stereo head mounted display
as the helicopter, equipped with two CCD cameras, was operated by one
of the crew. Then, Ashley took control of a joystick with her chin,
and was able to control her own flight and video experience.
