Automobile racing has grown in complexity with the advent of
computer technology. Real time links between driver and pit
crews, along with precise engine and chassis control, have
led to a closer interface between man (or woman) and machine.
The interface is incomplete, however, without a real time
link between the physiological actions of the driver and the
dynamics of the racecar. The autopatch is an attempt to
complete the link. Crews can "tune" the dynamics of a vehicle
to a driver's most successful physiological makeup. Using
heartrate, brain patterns, and stress levels to disover each
particular driver's perfect driving "zone", the car can be
tuned in real time to optimize performance.
