Cyberarium Works With The Disabled

Here's how people with severe physical disablities benefit by the Cyberarium.

We are grateful to be working with a couple of severely disabled kids on some very important and innovative interface projects.

One of these is a 17 year old quadreplegic named Eyal Sherman.

Eyal suffered a brain stem stroke as a young child following surgery for a tumor. He is about as paralized as one can be; there is not even any head or tongue movement.

From our brief tutorial on human-computer interface you'll quickly see that, unassisted, someone like Eyal just ain't equiped to use computers. His physical limitations prevent independent use of any kind of technology, let alone a computer. Applying our theory of interface to Eyal we began the process of interfacing him with a computer. Below are some snapshots of that process. Click here for a more complete account of our experience with Eyal.

The other person we are working with is a 7 year old girl named Brooke Kendrick. Brooke has Cerebral Palsy and is quite limited in her physical movements. Movement she can perform is compromised by tightening and rigidness in her muscles

Brooke' case is very challenging and there are many callaborating on her situation. In addition to Cyberarium core members, there is a group of industrial design students involved in the work we do for Brooke's interface system.
