In the Spring of
2000,
CABLExpress of Syracuse,
NY
donated computer and networking equipment to the
Center for Really
Neat
Research.
CABLExpress donated a complete Gateway Computer
system to help in the
development of communications technologies for
individuals with
disabilities.
CABLExpress also coordinated
efforts with several vendors to
provide
the
Center for Really Neat
Research with a 100base-T internal network.
Intel Corporation donated 3, 10/100, 24
port switches, and 1, 10/100,16 port switch.
AMP Corporation donated 5,000 feet of Cat5e
cabling to wire the entire
Center with the new network.
Donations
such as these make it possible for the Center to develop new
technologies
in an effort to improve quality of life. Run by the
non-profit group,
Institute for Interventional Informatics
(I3), the
Center works with the community to find ways for people with
extreme
disabilities to communicate.
I3 works to develop
pro-social, intelligent communication technologies in the areas of
education, communication, recreation, and health care.
